The definition of being on tour in Europe

For us, the definition of being on tour is that you travel with your instrument under your arm to another country to show your music to a new audience.

When you travel to different gigs in one or more countries you are on tour. For whoisontour.org, the criteria go a little further than a tour in your own country. We assume that an artist will perform outside his own country borders. The area that we cover with a tour concerns the countries within the European Union. The tour consists of traveling between performances where you stay in an accommodation that is not your own home.

Organizers choose bands and artists from overseas to show new music styles but also to delight and surprise their own fans. In addition, many artists already have a large number of followers and fans who want to see the artist live.

This is easy for well-known bands and artists. There are a large label and a promotion team behind it. For lesser-known names, this is not that simple. But today there are fortunately many opportunities to win online fans for your music and also touring is not that difficult anymore.

The definition of our being on tour condition has to do with our clients. These are mainly organizers of international festivals, music clubs, and halls. Their focus is on introducing global talent. The chosen artists fit within the criteria and music style of the event. Our network community is called whoisontour for a reason. We focus on artists who have the courage to travel with their instrument under their arm to another country to come and play their music, to meet new fans and to overwhelm organizers with new music.

Example: a band from Poland who will perform in Germany at different locations and always stays in a hotel, is on tour. An artist from Australia who performs in Spain and stays in a holiday home is on tour. Both fit within the conditions of whoisontour.org.
